Feel-good update: A few bright spots in a bleak week
Hope you had a good, and, uh, reflective Presidents’ Day — the last week has been tough but there are a few good things.
Hope you had a good, and, uh, reflective Presidents’ Day — the last week has been tough but there are a few bright spots.
First, nearly 100 women are running for statehouse in Kentucky. 63 women are running in Alabama — there’s a chance we could more than double the number of women in the AL state house.
Next, in the latest update of 2017-candidates-becoming-2018-elected-officials, millennials in the VA state house (including Run for Something winners like Schuyler VanValkenburg!) started a millennial caucus to focus on issues our generation is deeply invested in.

It feels like years ago, but just last Tuesday, a Democrat flipped a red seat in Florida, reaffirming our philosophy that we must contest and compete every single election regardless of what we think is “winnable.” Which is why we’re excited to be hiring, so we can work with candidates everywhere. We’re still looking to fill a few key spots — including a lead regional director. All jobs are up online at runforsomething.net/jobs; help us find the best folks.

This week has been tough. But the kids are giving us hope — getting to work with millennials & gen-z’ers who want to make change in their community makes this all worth it.
Thanks for being a part of it all.
