Last week was particularly chaotic in the bad-news part of the world, so on this rainy Monday morning, let’s focus on the good things…
OUR CANDIDATES
Two Run for Something candidates were up for the same seat on Long Beach city council last week against an incumbent who most assumed would win re-election easily. Instead, our candidates gave him a run for his money, and one of them, Jared Milrad, will be facing him in a run-off in June. Go Jared!
In Oklahoma, our crew officially put their names on the ballot during the candidate filing window April 11–13. The blue wave is coming to the Sooner State…
Emily Randall in Washington state took over our Instagram account last Tuesday in a new feature we’re calling #TakeoverTuesday (we love alliteration, don’t @ us). LOVE this photo of her big family, who inspired her to run for office.
We had an incredible crew of candidates attend the PCCC training in DC this week — they got to know each other in person, learn from some of the best in the business, and build stronger relationships. We love this, we love partnering with great organizations, and we especially love not recreating the wheel.
CHEESE PUNS
Last week, we were lucky to join two amazing congressional candidates — the inimitable Lucy McBath from GA and Leslie Cockburn in VA — at the Vanity Fair Founders Fair to talk about women running for office. We also sat down with VF Hive on Cheddar, and are proud to say we made zero cheese puns.
CHICAGO
We have two great events in Chicago this week — on Tuesday night, the wonderful Bruce & Vicki Heyman are hosting us at their home (along with Steve Cohen, Paula Froehle, Jon Carson, Valerie Jarrett, Max Temkin, Betsy Hoover, and Jeremy Bird) for what’s sure to be a great night. On Wednesday night, the Cards Against Humanity team is hosting a fundraiser/comedy show at their event space. If you haven’t already, make sure to get your ticket!
RUN FOR SOMETHING-ADJACENT STUFF…

Moms are running for office and unlike past years, they are fired up to talk about why parenthood qualifies them for public service.
Thanks for making all this possible. We couldn’t do it without you.
