This week’s update is nothing but good vibes all about the inspiring world-changing candidates running across the country. Ready?
First: We released a new video — and perhaps our favorite yet! — highlighting our incredible moms running for office. These women are superheroes.
Next: We’re partnering with Crooked Media to highlight our candidates as part of their Vote Save America campaign. Watch some of the videos candidates are sharing about why they’re running for office.
More videos! HuffPost has been highlighting Run for Something candidates non-stop over the last few weeks as part of their Crash the Party series. Check out the episode on Hadiya Afzal, an 18 year old powerhouse running for Dupage County Board in IL and the one on Caitlin Clarkson Pereira, a mom running in CT who’s challenging the state for allowing her to spend campaign funds on childcare.
Speaking of women running for office: The WSJ dug in on young women running for office, including our very own Erin Zwiener, who’s running for state legislature in Texas. The Houston Chronicle has an interview with Lina Hidalgo, running for Harris County Judge in Texas. Our latest update to our Why We Run series interviews Priya Bhat-Patel, an amazing candidate for Carlsbad City Council. Brianna Titone, candidate for state legislature in Colorado, has a powerful first-person post up on Medium about her transition and how being a role model for trans kids plays a part in her campaign. These are the kind of person we need in public service.

There are good men, too! PSMag explains why one of the best ways to combat ICE is to elect sheriffs who will stand up to them — people like Dave Hutchinson in Hennepin County, Minnesota. And you’re going to love Adam Ragan, a teacher running for Tuscon Unified School District Governing Board, who got an op-ed in the Arizona Daily Star about the importance of students being involved in the process of running the school district.
Finally, more broadly: MTV News also did a great story on millennial candidates — folks who aren’t waiting for “their turn” to get in the game.
On RFS-related topics: Last week we did a fun volunteer meet-up in D.C. — and surprise! Senator Kirsten Gillibrand joined us for a glass of wine. We’ll be in Chicago this week and in San Francisco the week after that.
Thanks for making all this possible. Three-ish weeks to go. Let’s close this out strong.
