Over the last week, we’ve been asking supporters to chip in to help fund a recruitment campaign in Florida, specifically to find candidates to run for state legislature against 24 Republicans with A/A+ ratings from the NRA who, as of right now, do not have Democratic opponents.

The team stepped up in a big way. Yesterday, we ran the below ad in the Sun Sentinel — one of the biggest newspapers in Broward County.

The ad was an exclusive in Playbook, written up in The Hill and Florida Politics, and highlighted across social media. We’ll be doing more press/TV on it later this week; stay tuned for that…

The ad wasn’t cheap. But this work is too important not to find a way — thanks to our supporters, we were able to afford it.

My only other note today: You must read this story from Mother Jones about the surge in Democrats running in deep-red districts. We’re proud to have helped Texas Democrats recruit for their state legislative races — and we’re working closely with states like Nebraska, Missouri, and Oklahoma to recruit there, too, before it’s too late. We can’t leave any race — even the longshots!! — up for grabs.
