Feel-good update: Remember the State of the Union? That was LAST WEEK.
Every week seems to last a million years. Let’s relive them all together.
Happy day-after-Super-Bowl-Sunday! Hope your week was fun, and that you aren’t suffering from the flu like a whole bunch of us are…
A few updates from the last week in Run for Something
Just last week was the State of the Union (feels like years ago!!) — we were proud to participate in the People’s Response. ICYMI, watch now.
And get this: In the two hours after the State of the Union, more people signed up to run for office than we normally get in a 24 hour period.
On Wednesday, we launched our Instagram account! We’re starting out by highlighting our incredible candidates — so much more fun content to come.

Just this morning, Who What Why put up a great overview of the millennial candidate wave, including an interview with Kevindaryan Lujan, one of our 2017 candidates who became one of the first Latinos to serve on the Orange County legislature.
“The money we did not have we made up for by our ideas and our push to be representatives of the community. And Run for Something is very much about that,” Lujan said. “And I am so proud to have been endorsed by an organization which recognizes our youth is so paramount to our future.”
In RFS-adjacent news…
Check this out, from the New York Times: ‘They Can’t Wait to Vote’: Energized Democrats Target Dominant G.O.P. in Statehouses — a story all about how down-ballot elections are getting Democratic voters fired up.
You also might like this story about what millennial mayors are doing to revolutionize city halls — this quote made my heart burst: “Where it made a difference that I was a young candidate is that running for office is an act of hope — it’s only something you do if you believe it makes a difference.”
We LOVE our volunteers:

In honor of the Eagles victory last night, a candidate spotlight: Jennifer O’Mara, one of our statehouse candidates in PA, was highlighted in the Daily Pennsylvanian. Fun/horrible fact: Pennsylvania is ranked 49th in female representation in elected office.
Finally, a few events coming up:
February 7th in DC: A joint event with our partners at Emerge America
February 8th in Denver: A bar night ahead of the Pod Save America show in the Mile High City
February 22nd in Sacramento: A low-key affair to get to know other RFS supporters
February 27th in San Francisco: Join us and Gov. Howard Dean for a very fun night!
Thanks for all you do to make this possible. Team work makes the dream work.
Miss last week’s update? Get the good feelings now.
