No exciting candidate updates or links to related stories for you to read this week — while there are lots of those to share, I’m sure you’ve got enough on your plate getting ready for the holidays.
Today, in the spirit of the week, all I want to say is thank you.
Almost exactly three years ago this week, we had an idea for an organization that we thought would be our meaningful hobby as we entered the Trump era.
That idea is now a multi-million dollar organization with 17 incredible people on staff, thousands of volunteers involved, a community of 45,000 people who’ve said they want to run for office, 950+ endorsed candidates we’ve worked closely with, and 298 amazing elected officials — all young & predominately women and people of color.
None of this would have happened without you.
You are the reason nearly 400k Virginians now have affordable health care, why the right to a safe and legal abortion is now protected in New York state, why voters in Houston can now vote early in more locations than ever, and why LGBT conversion therapy for minors is now banned in East Lansing, MI, for a start.
You’re reading this because you’ve played a part in building Run for Something — by giving us (and/or our candidates) advice, time, money, broadening our reach, or even running yourself, you are part of an incredible group of people who are building permanent power for Democrats from the ground up.
You know just as well as we do: This work is really hard. But it’s also often delightful, always inspiring, and most importantly, it’s changing our country for the better.
Your commitment to our shared mission is what makes this all possible. Thank you.
