Feel-good update: The response to our big news!
Last week was a big one for us! 101 endorsements, 2 election days, and some top-notch reading.
Last week was a big one for us!
In case you missed it: We endorsed 101 new candidates, marking our 500th endorsement in the 2017–2018 cycle (actually, our 553rd).
The response was overwhelming. We collected them into this Twitter moment — along with the incredible candidates we welcomed into the RFS family — if you’re looking for inspiration. A small sampling…

The Washington Monthly published an op-ed about the movement we’re building together. A quick excerpt..
When I need an infusion of hope, this [video] is exactly the kind of thing that does the trick…
The organization Run for Something has been doing great work over the last 20 months. But what gives me hope are those 18,000 young people who have stepped up and engaged in the political process. The line that grabbed me from that video is the one about how they are challenging the idea of what it means to be a politician. That is something that young people, without the baggage of tradition, are uniquely capable of doing.
Last week also included TWO election days! Yet again, just about half our candidates came out ahead. Congrats to Laurie Pohutsky (MI House 19), Mari Manoogian (MI House 40), Kyle Cooper (MI House 45), Kyra Harris Bolden (MI House 35,) Kevin Windham (MO House 85), Emily Randall (WA Senate 26) and Luke Evslin (Kaua’i City Council). Onward to November!
A few stories worth reading:
— Ross wrote a piece for Campaigns & Elections on why the future of the Democratic Party is local. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
- Read Business Insider’s profile of some of our New York state legislature candidates, Alessandra Biaggi & Jessica Ramos, who are taking on IDC members and are absolutely crushing it. The Nation also highlighted their badass campaigns.
— The Atlantic dug in on how the ~blue wave~’s crash into state legislatures will be the long-lasting legacy of this election cycle, with a spotlight on two of our candidates, Anna Eskamani in Florida and Julie Gonzalez in Colorado.
Thanks for doing what you’re doing to make this whole thing happen. We’re so glad to get to do it with you.
Catch up from last week…
