Trump could inspire just as big a call to public service as President Obama.
In just one week, more than 1,200 people have signed up to run for office. We’re going to help them.

Feel better about the future of America. Read a few of their stories:
A young woman from Wisconsin:
I don’t want to look back years from now and wish I had done more. I think that the world needs more powerful young voices to be heard and the only way to stop ourselves from feeling helpless is to step up and do something.
A young man in Kentucky:
1) I believe in planting trees whose shade I’ll never experience.
2) Kentucky is my home and I will fight tooth and nail to defend it from malevolent forces.
3) We’ve heard the cliche a million times but I want to be the change I’ve wanted to see in the world.
A Pennsylvanian:
I am a bisexual woman who works at a nonprofit children and family service agency, who has been on food stamps, medicaid, and unemployment, and who is burdened with student loan debt. I know firsthand how vital public services are to those in need, how critical ending discrimination against those who face it is, and how necessary it is to make policy changes so future generations are not bankrupted by the time they reach adulthood. I want to protect and push for these ideas, particularly since the current hostile political climate makes it necessary to step up.
A woman in New Mexico:
When I was younger, I never would have dreamed of running for office. I was all too aware of the culture that has become prevalent among our elected officials and didn’t think I belonged there. However, the more I see, the more I wonder if I can’t do my duty to my country in some way by bringing not only empathy to the table, but also a respect for our world and the people in it.
A woman in Michigan:
I have always had a fire within me to defend the rights of the most marginalized among us. I have fought the fight in many small ways, but now I see it is time to help in a big way. I have a degree in Math, I am a yoga teacher, I am a pro-choice Catholic, I am very genuine and love making connections with the people around me, especially those with a different background than my own. This nation is made up of regular people and it’s time we have leaders to speak for us. I’m not saying I will be the best, I honestly don’t know much about politics, but I believe the entry point is wherever you are. I have gifts and I would like to share them.
Every single person who signs up to run will get a chance to schedule a one-on-one with one of the 300+ Run for Something volunteers. Think of that conversation as an appointment with a personal “political engagement concierge” — our volunteer will talk through what it’s like to run for office, answer questions, and help direct the possible candidate to the right next step.
We’re building out an organizing and intake system to help facilitate these conversations. If you want to help, sign up to volunteer — or just as importantly, make a donation.
(And if you’re a reporter — email us at press@runforsomething.net — we’d love to intro you to a few of these folks!)
